Transition

This functionality is deprecated, please do not use. Please use Executors for all transition processing

Transition templates can be used to transition related issues at the same time as the parent issues transition occurs. The templates are only required if the related issue requires a transition of a different name than the parent. On the transition of issue A-12 to In Progress if you also want linked issue B-11 to set to In Progress then you don't need to create a template for this. But in you want issue B-11 to be transitioned to To Do then you will need to specify a template.

NOTE: For safety reasons issues in the same project will be set to the same status as the parent issue. This is to prevent potential circular transition loops (i.e. An issue A-1 transition causes a transition in A-2 that then causes a transition in A-1 ....).

Note: If an issue is meant to cause a transition in a related issue but that related issue already has the status that is meant to be transitioned to then the transition will not occur.

This tab looks and behaves the same as the "Create Issue Templates" tab. Adding a new template or clicking on edit will show the dialog below.

At the top of the dialog is the template name to help identify what this template does. Next is the Default Workflow Link Name. This defines the transition to use if none is defined in the mappings. The field is plain text and is the name from the workflow link between the status you are currently on and the one you want to transition to.

For example to transition an item in the project TEST from the status "In Progress" to "Done" go to an issue in TEST that is currently on the status "In Progress". Click on the "view workflow" link next to the "In Progress" status. This will show a popup with a diagram of the project's workflow. Hover over the "In Progress" status box to see the names on the "In Progress" to "Done" link. Use the text on the Done (that is where we are trying to go) end for this field. Please see the "Transition" sub-section of the documentation for more details. These names are case insensitive.

Click on the "view workflow" link next to the "In Progress" status. This will show a popup with a diagram of the project's workflow. Hover over the "In Progress" status box to see the names on the "In Progress" to "Done" link.

Use the text on the Done end (that is where we are trying to go to) for this field. If you were trying to transition from "Done" to "In Progress" then you would use the text on the "In Progress" end of the line (Reopen and start progress).

At the bottom are the mappings. This is one to one mappings for a project. You enter a project key, Workflow link name and click the Add button. See the description for the Default Workflow Link Name field for a description of what to put in the Workflow link name field. The Transition Template example above says that when doing a transition all related issues in the TEST project will be transitioned to "In Progress" (using the Start Progress transition) while every other issue (in projects other than the parent issues project) will be transitioned to Done.
